Theresa Greenfield on Education

Refinance student debt; find ways to work off the debt

Greenfield: Student debt is a really serious crisis and it has kept so many of our young leaders from starting families and businesses. We need to get back into investing into education. Then we need to make sure that students can refinance their student debt and we need to find ways for students to participate in programs where they can work off their student debt whether they are medical professionals or young farmers that want to come back and get started in farming.

Debt free community college and trade schools

Greenfield: I support debt free community college, trade schools, technical schools, advancing our apprenticeship programs so people can earn while they learn. We need to then make sure that our small businesses can grow, providing more capital, more credit so that they can expand in this state. So we marry the two, a stronger workforce with skilled training where they can start their small businesses, growing small business.

Expand pre-K, invest in higher education, apprenticeships

Theresa will always put teachers and students first. That starts with expanding public pre-kindergarten to making sure Iowa's workforce has the right skills for the 21st century, and includes investing in higher education and job training, like apprenticeships where Iowans can earn while they learn. Theresa is committed to fully funding Pell grants, and ensuring our educators have the compensation, resources, and respect they deserve--including the ability to organize and collectively bargain.

Pro-transgender bathrooms, according to CC survey.

Greenfield opposes the Christian Coalition survey question on transgender bathrooms

The Christian Coalition inferred whether candidates agree or disagree with the statement, 'Prohibiting Public Schools from Allowing Boys to Use Girls' Bathrooms; and Vice Versa?' Self-description by Christian Coalition of America: "These guides help give voters a clear understanding of where candidates stand on important pro-family issues" for all Senate and Presidential candidates.
