State of Pennsylvania Archives: on Government Reform
Brian Fitzpatrick:
Congress needs term limits & single-issue bills
10 Steps to Fix and Reform Washington:- Support term limits for all Members of Congress.
- Abolish Congressional pensions.
- Pass "No Budget, No Pay" so that legislators who fail to pass a budget on time do not get paid.
- Each vote should be
on a single issue. End the cynical process of filling bills up with non-related items.
- Force the bureaucrats to defend every taxpayer dollar they spend by enacting "zero-based" budgeting.
- Support a Balanced-Budget Amendment to our Constitution.
- End political "gerrymandering" once and for all by ensuring that Congressional districts are drawn by independent citizen commissions, not politicians.
- End the Federal government's duplication of agencies and programs, a practice that
costs our economy billions of dollars.
- Aggressively investigate and prosecute all instances of Fraud, Waste and Abuse in federal agencies.
- Allow veterans to see the physicians of their choice.

Katie McGinty:
Make it easier for people to participate in our elections
Katie McGinty believes that we need to make it easier for people to participate in our elections, not harder. She opposes Tom Corbett's Voter ID legislation because it creates unnecessary obstacles for seniors, minorities, and low income voters from
exercizing their right to vote. As Governor, Katie will oppose any legislation that inhibits a person's ability to exercise their constitutional rights.

Steve Welch:
Term limits instead of a road to riches
Each of the candidates thought the federal debt is the nation's greatest threat. Welch called for a balanced budget amendment and term limits for lawmakers. "It should be a privilege to serve, not a road to riches," he said."We need a balanced
budget amendment. That is really the only way we have to stop career politicians to spend us to bankruptcy," Scaringi said. He called for elimination of those agencies that harm the economy and are not supported by the Constitution.
