Bill Ritter on Civil Rights

Democrat

Traditional definition of marriage; but full rights for gays

I support the religious, traditional and statutory definition of marriage as a union of one man and woman. I also believe that government has a duty to extend the same civil and legal rights, benefits and protections to civil unions or domestic parternships, and that’s why I support Referendum I.

Supports MWDBE programs for those without historical access

MWDBE programs have existed for years on the state and local level. MWDBE programs allow governmental agencies to use minority, women and small business status as criteria in awarding government contracts. I support MWDBE programs that are properly structured in conformance with existing laws. They are one vehicle to allow all members of the business community to participate in government contracts and especially those who historically have not had access to the markets of opportunity.
